Rules updated by the Board of Directors of the Academy on 17 December 2024

 

1. The Prize is intended for an unpublished study in the history of the Arts or Archaeology, in the current territory of Belgium. The Academy announces the Prize in the Belgian Journal of Archaeology and Art History. The work will contain a maximum of 100,000 characters (including spaces, notes and appendices). The Prize will reward an original scientific work written in one of the national languages ​​or in English. This work is written especially for the Prize. It must be able to be published as such, apart from modifications proposed by the jury. The winning article will be published in the Belgian Journal of Archaeology and Art History.

2. Manuscripts printed in triplicate must reach the secretariat of the Prize of the Royal Academy of Archaeology and Art History of Belgium before the set date, accompanied by a digital version. One copy will be kept in the archives of the Royal Academy of Archaeology and Art History of Belgium.

3. The Prize is triennial and can only be awarded to a person who is not a member of the Academy.

4. Manuscripts must be submitted before 31 May of the year in which the Prize is awarded. The Prize is awarded by a jury of the Academy. The decision will be communicated to the candidates in writing. The prize will be announced no later than the end of the current calendar year.

5. The jury is sovereign and no appeal is possible. 6. In 2025, the Prize will amount to €2,000. The winner may bear the title of “Laureate of the Prize of the Royal Academy of Archaeology and Art History of Belgium”.
